Ola Electric Launches S1Z at ₹79,999, Targets Mass EV Market
New Delhi, August 28, 2026: Ola Electric has launched its new S1Z electric scooter at an introductory price of ₹79,999, bringing the company's indigenously developed Bharat Cell LFP battery technology to its more affordable scooter range.
The S1Z is available in two battery variants — 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh — priced at ₹79,999 and ₹99,999 respectively, ex-showroom. The two versions offer claimed IDC ranges of up to 179 km and 301 km, respectively.
Bharat Cell LFP Technology
The S1Z uses Ola Electric's indigenous 46-series LFP cell platform, developed at the company's Battery Innovation Centre and manufactured at its Gigafactory in India.
The company said developing the battery technology in-house helps reduce battery costs, which represent one of the largest cost components of an electric vehicle. Ola is positioning the S1Z as a mass-market product aimed at making its locally developed battery technology more accessible to Indian buyers.
Ola Electric Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal said the S1Z is intended to bring the company's indigenous LFP technology to everyday consumers while supporting its broader vision of developing India's EV ecosystem from battery cells to complete vehicles.
S1Z Range and Key Features
The 3.1 kWh S1Z offers a claimed IDC range of 179 km, while the 5.1 kWh version offers up to 301 km. Both variants have a top speed of 70 kmph and are powered by a 4 kW peak motor.
The scooter runs on MoveOS 5 and comes with features including cruise control, regenerative braking, reverse mode, GPS, over-the-air software updates, geo- and time-fencing, ride statistics and energy insights through the Ola Electric app.
The S1Z also gets an Easy Park feature designed to help riders manoeuvre the scooter in tight parking spaces.
Deliveries to Begin in December
Ola Electric said deliveries of the 3.1 kWh variant will begin in December 2026, while deliveries of the 5.1 kWh version are scheduled to start in March 2027.
The scooter comes with 12-inch wheels across both variants. The company has listed four colours for the range: White, Anthracite, Sky Splash Blue and Matcha Green.
Ola Plans Wider Retail Expansion
The S1Z will also be among the first products to be scaled up through Ola Electric's next phase of retail expansion.
The company plans to add dealer-operated stores alongside its existing company-owned retail network, with the aim of expanding access to its scooters across the country.
With the S1Z, Ola Electric is seeking to combine a lower entry price with longer claimed range and locally developed battery technology as it targets the mass-market segment of India's growing electric two-wheeler market.
